Up to July 2003, the magazine was called SMEs Review (Revista IMM). Starting with the issue of august-september 2003, the magazine was edited with a new face and under a new name: SMEs Business Review (Revista Afaceri IMM).

White Charter of SMEs in Romania is meant to offer a thorough analysis of the past and present situation of the Romanian Small and Medium Sized Enterprises sector. The analysis has been carried out both on a global level by presenting the international dimension of the entrepreneurial phenomenon and on a national level by inspecting the major trends in the Romanian SME sector with an accent on economic and social performances.

The White Charter is not just a description of the facts related to the SME sector. It also strengthens the pro-active attitude that CNIPMMR has adopted by offering clear recommendations that policy makers should take into account for a quick and healthy improvement of one of the most important sectors in a market economy.

The White Charter aims at offering to the interested reader a broader view on the Romanian SME sector together with a better understanding of the factors that have influenced it. The well-documented book is the first of this kind in Romania and it provides new information regarding the Romanian SMEs sector from the point of view of Romania's aspiration for European Union integration.
